Leaving Branson...

Image
We got here Sunday afternoon after a long 4.5 hour ride from St.Louis. Branson is a major tourist attraction akin to Las Vegas. There are many theaters hosting dozens of shows. The main strip is jam packed with traffic and there are tourist traps every inch of the way. We arrived around 5pm and got set up in the Branson Holiday KOA. This is a huge place packed with probably 100 elbow to elbow RV sites and 20 camping cabins. After getting settled in, we went to the local Walmart to replenish some food consumables. Monday morning I got on line and made reservations for 2 shows. Barb likes the Irish Tenors group and I like the Duttons (check them out on YouTube). We went to the Tenors 2pm show, then drove around Table Rock Lake and old Branson before taking in the Duttons 8pm show. Both were very high energy shows and we enjoyed them. The Irish Tenors The Duttons Today it's off for a short 2.5 hr run to Ash Flat AR where we'll overnight in a Walmart on our way to Graceland in Mem...

The National Park Service has done a beautiful job creating a pleasant experience walking from the street to the Arch site 630 feet tall Union Station   Getting some lunch in Union Station Lewis and Clark expedition starting point, right near our KOA campground Cohekia Mounds, an unexpected treat right near our campground. A UNESCO site A worthwhile read is here

Finally, St Louis!!

We arrived here a little before 3pm local time (4pm Eastern time). Here's a link to our present location. 1000 miles from home and almost 1/2 way across America. We got plugged into AC and cable TV and just chilled for a while. The local Papa John's delivers to camp sites, so we ordered a pizza. Tomorrow we plan to see the famous St Louis arch and then the Anheiser Busch brewery and Clydesdale horse stables. We might also take in the St Louis train station and the nearby Lewis and Clark historic site. Hope to post some good pictures tomorrow. Also planning to get a good local BBQ dinner while here.

Indianapolis!!!

Now in Indianapolis. As usual, we're in a Walmart lot. The 3.5 hour ride here was smooth until we got into Indiana. The roads here are actually worse that PA! We got really bounced around and other drivers are aggressive and rude. It probably doesn't help that we arrived at the peak of rush hour. We parked in a huge empty section lot on the side of the store. You can see our location here .    Today we'll make the 3.5 hour trip to St Louis where we have a reservation for a couple days at a campground. The sightseeing really begins here, almost 1000 miles from home. We plan to see the Arch and the Budweiser brewery as a minum, plus whatever else we can cram into a single day. We'll get a chance to empty our holding tanks and  refill our water tank. We'll also run a load of laundry. Stay tuned!

Arrived at Mansfield, OH

We got here about 4pm. Our usual great overnight spot in a Walmart parking lot. Did some "touch up" shopping in the WalMart and now sitting here sipping a Margherita and watching national news with both AC units running. We'll probably eat in tonight with some sort of frozen dinner from our freezer. We were going to take the Jeep and find a restaurant, but like yesterday, we're beat. A thunderstorm came through with thunder and lightening, but it blew over in about 10 minutes. Tomorrow I think we'll both get showers. Here is our location

Greetings from Clearfield!

7:30 am  -   We arrived about 5pm yesterday. Stinking hot! We immediately fired up the generator to run the AC. It ran until about 10pm when it finally cooled off outside. We went into Walmart for a food run, then came back and just chilled for a while and watched TV. We were beat! Today were heading for our next stopover in Mansfield , OH. We'll probably do some housekeeping and leave around noon. Here is our present location.

...and we're off!

I have four Ring cameras/motion detectors set up at the main house entry points and inside. We'll also have the main house phone forwarded to a cell phone in the motorhome.  The house fridge has been emptied into the motorhome fridge. I'll turn off the house water before leaving and set the AC to about 80 deg. Our generator app will notify us if there's a loss of house power. Next planned posting is tonight from Clearfield, Pa.
